Light didn't win. Without the shinigami, Light would have lost sooner. The shinigami only pushed his 'going down' a little longer.
The fact that L was always aware of everything Light did amazed me. I got kinda pissed when he died. The whole plot kinda faded and Near didn't really pwn as I'd hoped.
