Ironically, my heart has been hurt/broken much more by best friends than by anyone I went out with -- though all my dating days stopped at the end of high school, and I met the man whom I've been married to for 14 years now this coming March.

So, concerning the best-friends: It was very rare for me to find a real friend out of all of the "friends", "budz" or aquaintances that I've had over time. I've had three best friends in the past - the first "dumped" me for the "cool crowd"; the second "dumped" me for her personal gain (i.e. to steal my boyfriend directly afterward, plus turning several other 'friends' against me over gossip), and the third "dumped" me becuase -- y'know, to this day, I never found out why.

I now have a best friend who is married and has 2 sons just like I do. We've had an unbreakable bond for 8 years and counting. So it proves to me that a heartbreak is like pruning a plant - your heart can grow (instead of wither away) and heal; it does, of course, take time.
