Morning was breaking over Teek and the birds were coming out to sing. But just as all that made a new day were coming around. Kai was also coming around. His eyes slowly opened. “Uhhhh. Where am I?” He said wearily. He sat up. “Ahhh!” That hurts. What happened. Kai suddenly had a couple of flashbacks from the previous night. “THAT PERSON! How could he be so strong. I train everyday.” Kai slowly got to his feet. “So dizzy.” He looked up at the glowing sun. And the sky who’s darkness was fading away to the light. His eyes slightly closed trying to shield his vision from the sun. It was hard in the conditions to keep them open. ‘I guess I’ll have to go back home get somethin’ to eat or sumit’.’ His words were very drowsy. He made his way, slowly, down the path he had ran up the previous night.
Blue was sitting at home shaking. The atmosphere was very queit and hollow. “Kai... where have you gone... Kai.” The door suddenly opened. And Kai struggled through. “Kai oh Kai thank god your still here.”
“Sorry” Spurted Kai with one eye closed.
“You’re bruised and covered in blood. What happened to you?”
“Let us sit down for a moment then I’ll tell you.”
“Okay I’ll make you a Cocoa.”
‘Thanks.’
Shortly later Blue came back with a towel and some cocoa for Kai. And took a seat next to him on the sofa. Kai then told Blue in full detail what happened, every so often taken sips from his cocoa. Kai dabbed his face with the towel. “Your face looks really sore” exclaimed Blue, “have you dabbed it enough’
“Blue, I’m eighteen, I can take care of myself.”
“Last night begs to differ.”
“‘Blue, I train everyday. A lot. It’s just he was unbelievable.”
“Yes, I can’t say that I know someone as strong and skilful in the art of combat as you. Someone who can throw pin point accuracy punches and kicks at superbly immense speeds without losing any power. But this person must be something if he pummelled you with such ease.”
“He knocked me unconscious without even hitting much more than just a few times.”
“Kai.”
“Yeah.”
“Why do you enjoy fighting so much? Everyone thought of it as one of your childhood fantasies until you eventually pursued it more and more.”
“Dunno, I suppose Teek’s a quiet town and well the other stuff I suppose wasn’t my stuff.”
“Yes, as much as I would like to think that Teek still had an elder in place in our sanctuary I’m afraid we don’t. He kept everything in Teek exciting. It used to be a right hustle and bustle living here I tell you that. Not saying that we haven’t done fine without him as Teek has always been very civilised. It has just quieted down that’s all. I suppose we still have the Koi though. Do you still remember the elder?”
“Lord Kent, I would be lying to say I can remember him well as he left when I was a new in Teek. Where did he say he was going again?”
“He didn’t say much so I wouldn’t know. Anyways maybe you should rest for a while. You look like you need it.”
“Yeah, I’ll just finish this cocoa and then have a nap.”
With the end of the conversation Blue left Kai to rest on the sofa. Kai quickly fell to sleep, to wake up later that day, around noon. Upon waking up, Blue had just entered the room. He slowly crossed the room to the location where Kai was sleeping. Kai’s eyes were barely opened as they adjusted to the new light intake. “Oh Kai your awake.”
“How long have I been asleep for?”
“Oh, just a few hours.”
“Right, I’m going out.”
“WHAT! In your condition?”
“Yeah. To train. I’ll be ready, the person said “‘Your village has nothing to fear... yet.’”
Kai exited his house walking slowly along to the training spot he uses next to the Koi pond, with a bowl of curry and chopsticks in his hand. He likes training near the Koi so he headed to the top Koi pond. Kai walked down the the old path to the Koi pond which Blue and himself both walked down the previous night. Upon arrival he put the bowl and chopsticks to one side and went over to a tree stump. He had carved a crater into the tree stump and had carved the rest of the wood into balls just a bit bigger than tennis balls. He had done this with two fairly spaced stumps. Kai had done a good job of carving them. He through one of the balls into the air. “That tree there is my target.” he thought. He jumped into the air and his leg swept through the winds making brutal contact with the wooden ball with great accuracy. The ball went flying to the direction of the tree. Bang on target the ball slammed into the tree, chipping the rough bark straight from it. He then picked up two of the wooden balls and through them up. Both without one hitting the floor. He said quietly to himself. He jumped and swept his right foot at the left ball which was slightly closer to the ground than the right one. He then put his left foot under his right which was still suspended in the air and chipped the right ball upwards with the sole of his foot. He then landed on the floor. His first ball slammed against the tree chipping even more bark from the tree. The other ball was still suspended in the air. He jumped up and did yet another sweeping kick this time with his worst foot. His left. It was just as accurate and powerful as his last kick. Even more bark was torn off. He landed on the floor. ‘Done, it’ he said.
Later at about twenty minutes past eight (PM). Blue came to see Kai. Kai was standing upright with huge weighted leggings strapped to his pants. He was practicing kicks on the air, trying to keep up his pace. “Kai you have been here for eight hours that’s about three times the length you normally train for.” Kai stopped. The weight brought his knees to the floor. He was panting heavily and looked completely haggard. “I need, huff to keep up, puff with it, pant.” Kai wheezed. Blue picked up the bowl of curry and the chopsticks which had been lying in the same spot for the last eight hours. “Come back and get something to eat,” suggested Blue “I don’t know how you keep it up without having eaten for eight hours.” Kai looked up “Yeah, huff I think I’ve completely drained my energy dry, puff I think it’s willpower that’s keeping, pant me going.” Blue walked over to him and put Kai’s arm around his shoulder. “Come on lets get something to eat.”
Kai woke up the next morning at about 8 o’clock. Quickly after waking up he was in the kitchen making him self some pop tarts in the toaster. Just as he was doing so Blue came through the Asian style sliding door which Kai had left open. “Those aren’t good for you, you know?”
“Blue do you have any idea how little I care,”
“Well you should do, life doesn’t last forever.”
Kai took the pop tarts from the toaster as they popped up. He then walked outside and sat on the steps leading up to the porch of his house. He leaned against a support and started to eat the pop tarts. Blue sat down next to him. “You know Lance is visiting Teek today.”
“Lance, the elder of Oranham?”
“Yes, I was thinking, that Lance may have heard of the person that you met two days ago. As you know Oranham will pick up the knowledge of any little things. It is a very respected place and their shrine may know of this person. Don’t doubt their knowledge of the not known.”
“Doubting a place like Oranham’s knowledge would be foolish, when will Lance be arriving in the village.”
“In about a couple of minutes time at the villages main entrance.”
“Okay I am going there now to greet him on arrival.”
“Okay then, I’ll see you later.”
