A fun thing to do is to experiment with writing in small, various forms.

One fun exercise is to write from the PoV from something you wouldn't expect to have a PoV in the first place. I recently wrote a short story from the point of view of cards in an electric poker game, found in your average casino. It was a lot of fun.
