I don't think this is true at all... Out of all the Chinese I know, and have known, a very small minority still resent Japan. The rest of them admire Japan and it's pop culture!

Before I became good friends with most of these Chinese, I was afraid of their reactions towards me because I liked things about Japan. But when we started speaking about these things, I was pleasently surprised because it actually just gave us another thing in common. Now, once a week, me and about 8 other chinese sit down together in a friends living room with a big TV and watch Naruto, Bleach and Gintama. Sometimes we even try cooking Japanese food, other times, we just get food from a Japanese restaurant one of them works for.
