hey thats a very nice thing you did and i want you to know i am not judging you - i dont know ur situation at all and i wish you peace and success, i was talking generally what i hear beacsue you know you only have to watch the bloody news to see real suffering.
I regularily help out at charities and collect money for vicitms of war mainly in mid-east but also world-wide and recently they sponsored this kid hassan 14 yers old - who had lost both his arms and his face was burned beyond recognition in iraq bombings. One of the guys who went over there told me that when he spoke to him - hassan said he wanted his body to heal quickly as possible so that he could look after his baby brother!! - who was the only other survivor in the bombing - rest of the family all dead, no home no land no money NOTHING.
So this is why when i hear of people self-harming my main reaction is always to roll my eyes and think what a F******, because they dont know what real suffering is and it is especially worse when they are well off kids !
