Berrypie's examples are textbook examples, they can't be wrong. This has nothing to do with passive tense. This has everything to do with the potential form of 見る which is 見られる. I think you got confused because the passive tense of 見る is also 見られる. We are not talking about passive tense clearly.

There are 2 additional verbs which has similar meaning to the potential form of 見られる and 聞かれる which is 見える and 聞こえる and it's the difference between the two Berrypie is trying to figure out.
