First of all... Taiwan is for all intents and purposes, independent even if very few states officially recognise it as such. (Seperate military, system of government)
Second I wasn't talking about independence. I was talking about respecting the will of the Taiwanese. If Taiwan CHOOSES to become a part of China then that's their call.
Though I don't see why it would forego it's local democratic autonomy for an authoritarian central government.
