You don't need a college degree to live and work in Japan.
My friend Niall came here about 6 months ago (to Tokyo) and in 1 week he managed to find a company to sponsor him for his visa, even though he had never been to college/university. I've met 10's of other foreigners the same as him as well, that have been working here for years.
So, anybody thinking about coming to Japan to live/work that don't have a degree - Chin up! You can do it!!!!
Also, this is just my/my friend Nick, Calum, Graham, Julie, Niall, experience but, if you really want to move here JUST DO IT!!!! A lot of people are saying you should go for a week and check it out, but in my opinion that's a terrible waste of money. There is no possible way you can even get a glimpse of the working lifestyle here unless you just bite the bullet and move.
I moved here 6 years ago before I had even seen a manga comic or knew what anime was, and today i work for a very respected university, i've got a great 2 bedroom apartment in Meguro, and i'm developing my own business which will launch very soon.
