No of course it's not the safest way. Far from it. The safest way is probably through the American military or Jet program I reckon. I wouldn't recommend either of those though.

Oh yeah, another thing. Nyororin (sorry I can't remember the name off the top of my head, please no offence) made a few good points in her ' I live in Japan' thread. Teaching English pretty much sux ass, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. It is a means to an end though and can lead to bigger/better things or buy you some time in Japan while you become good enough at Japanese to get a better job.
