Chinese Character tattoos are fine as long as you KNOW exactly what characters mean in the KANJI hemisphere, not JUST Japanese or JUST Chinese or JUST Korean.
You don't want characters such as:
手紙 - CHN: Toilet Paper JPN: Letter
鶏 - CHN: Chicken, or prostitute (slang), JPN: Chicken
愛人 - CHN: Spouse, JPN: Mistress
八方美人 - KOR: A perfect person (praise), JPN: Someone who present themselves as perfect (negative connotation)
I mean Hanzi/Kanji/Hanja, whatever you call it is just a minefield imho because each country as taken it and spined it their own way.
