I don't see anything wrong with it.
People tan all the time at beaches, regardless of age, race or gender. It's not strange to sit outside and get some sun for the skin. However, if you were talking about indoor tanning salons... That's a different story.
I'm naturally tan anyway, so I'm not all that concerned about tanning unless it's for the warmth.
