The best way for me to learn Japanese cooking is from Japanese friends. It's free and I was able to learn a lot from them, but... I have also tried on my own with the guide of a Japanese recipe book. So honestly, I don't think it's so important to take a Japanese cooking course, especially if it's so expensive. Best way is to ask your Japanese friends or get a Japanese recipe book. It's very easy!
