Your task won't be easy, there are many sources you will have to contact in order to get the merchandise you need. If you are a regular, small-businessperson, then this is still the best bet. But it will take time and work.

If you have greater means (lots of money), you should contact Mitsukoshi (a large, Japanese department store) and ask them about the possibility of a franchise in your area. You'll need a solid business plan, and you'll need to be able to put up a lot of your own capital.

I've seen a couple of Mitsukoshi's smaller stores in America, and they have countless small outlets and stores throughout Japan. These smaller stores tend to sell mostly gift items and souvenirs.

This approach would be expensive, but it would give you a name brand, strong support, and a pre-existing line of merchandise to sell.
