konnichiwa only means good afternoon

when you leave someone for a long time, and will not see them for a while, you say sayounara.

when you leave a friend you can say: Ja mata (see you) or Ja mata ashita (see you tomorrow) also you can say bai-bai (bye-bye) but i think this is a little more girls say it. also you can say Ja ne (cya)
