but that an action verb ending the uppercase letters (Ku, Gu, Su, Mu, Bu,) are all dropped when making a TE form and the lower case letters (i, i, shi, n, n,) are added at the end along with TE to make a TE form... does that make sense ?
Is there an easier way to remember this ?

I don't understand this. There are no such things as upper and lower case letters in Japanese...
When I learned it it was taught in a song with the tune of the Clementine Song (Oh my darling, oh my darling, etc)
く is いて
ぐ is いで
うつる are small って
ぬむぶ are んで
and す is just して
Though it's important to note that る refers to an う verb (or 1st level or whatever you call them) who's dictionary form ends in る (IE 作る) not something like 食べる which just changes to 食べて
Or something. I'm not really very good with てform.
