A soldier or sportsman (boxer) is not a Warrior. But a Warrior still exists. A Warrior is someone who may or may not have ever fought. It is irrelevant. I'm aware of it's meaning but I was really referring to it's usage in this day and age.
Your application of the term while not technically incorrect is not used really used in this way.
