Yeah, we do have a few non-standard accents down here. I speak usually with a nearly flawless Standard American English accent (basically how newsmen used to speak in the 50s). It's the "normal" accent.

However, my native accent is something like a southeast Texan. There's also an East Texas accent that I cannot imitate no matter how hard I try, and perhaps something like a West Texan accent, although I've never even been to West Texas (except for a couple hours on my way to New Mexico), so I'm not an authority on West Texas.

Heck, my Texan accent might be more "central Texan." I don't think there's really a difference in accent between those in San Antonio or the country folk near Austin and New Braunfels and those of my hometown (Victoria, near the coast).

But there's a significant difference between the way people there talk and the way people in Tyler talk.
