My my. First, vampires and werewolves are myths, right? There are tons of different versions of each. Our modern concept of them is made up of bits and pieces taken from all over, and a good number of the famed vampire authors have made up their own bits. That's called 'creativity'. I'd say Meyer's vampires are fairly close to Anne Rice's, though obviously designed for teens. As for werewolves, it's actually made clear later on in the series that the werewolves in the books are not actually werewolves by our current understanding.
Face it, most of you simply can't stand to see anything mainstream that you dislike. I mean, geeze, how dare someone write a book about vampires and werewolves and not conform to your idea of what they should be!
