War is hell, there isn't much you could apolgize for. Look at the war between the States, nobody apologizes about anything there and they pounded the hell out of each other.

I also agree that more often than not, good/evil has nothing to do with these conflicts. Politics are allways involved in these things, as long as national interests are considered to be at stake. It's why no one does anything about the genicide in Darfur...Darfur has no real natural resource anybody wants, so nobody does anything.
