Like in the above example. Or perhaps a more natural example would be

天気によって、.海に行きます。

That to me means:

"Depending on the weather, I will go to the beach."

Is that correct?　If not how should I say this sentence?

I've always just used で　in the examples Nagoyankee gives.

よる has many many meanings. The way Nagoyankee used it means "through the means of"
（依る）手段とする。「機械に―・る生産」「挙手に― ・る採決」

The way you used it means "depending (on the situation)"
（依る）物事の性質や内容などに関係する。応じる。従 う。「時と場合に―・る」「人に―・って感想が違う」 「成功は努力いかんに―・る」

You can use both in the て form.

The way the original poster used it means "as evidence".
（拠る）根拠とする。「実験に―・る結論」「天気予報 に―・ると大雨らしい」

When using the word to mean "as evidence", you can't use the て form. Also, the Kanji is different 拠る.
