There are quite a few good apps. One being Human Japanese, which will teach you the very basics of Japanese; useful for beginners.
Another app strictly for kanji is iKanji touch. If you're looking for any kanji related apps, definitely buy this one. Probably the only one you'll need.
KATSUYO, is an app for conjugating Japanese verbs. Really neat.
Of course, there are many more for for teaching hiragana & katakana, kanji, etc. But these are the ones I recommend. Hiragana and Katakana can be self taught in a few days, so, might not be worth spending money over an app for.
