the two can't be compared, they have entirely different stories. ponyo is more of a cute cartoon for little japanese children. while watching it i found the story lacking in substance. the little boy calls his mom by her first name, i found that odd. also, when the boy says goodbye to teacher or his mom he says sayonara, i thought that was odd because my japanese teacher taught me sayonara was only used when there was a long depart (not seeing eachother for +month) good movie if you like films such as totoro. catchy kiddy song at the end
