I think that, despite the misunderstanding, "whether they will be opposed
to each other" would be
okay, but "whether they will oppose each other" would be more appropriate. The difference is that "oppose" describes an action, whereas "be opposed to" generally describes someone's opinion. If you're opposed to something (an idea or course of action) you might not actually do anything about it other than say so.
Giving more details would also have made it clearer.
