Police on Wednesday retrieved 268 10,000-yen bills from the Sakai River in Machida. Earlier in the day, police received a call from a resident saying that "lots of 10,000 yen bills are floating in the river," they said.
Fifteen police officers spent two hours using a net and other means to collect the bills, some of which had sunk. The site is on the border of Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture and about 800 meters north of Tsukimino Station on the Tokyu Denen Toshi line. The money will go to the state treasury if the owner does not turn up to claim it within six months.

Don't walk behind me, I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.-- Albert Camus
