Yea windows likes to slap on their own bootloader every time u install windows so u gotta reinstall grub/lilo bootloader to get it back to the way u liked it before.

Yea its basically like having ur car stripped like taking out seat cushions, radios and stuff so it will go faster. It will look ugly to look at and won't impress people that's clueless about this sort of thing.
