I originally found it bizzare as the subject came up the other day through a conversation relating to a japanese girl who had experienced some bad things from her Father as a child and then we started to talk about this programme..
I do not think the idea of the programme was to relate to a simple Father and daughter relationship, and portrayed extras...
Just goes to show that all cultures very much think on opposite ends..
Some countries even donate girls as young as six as wives to the men..

I don't know where you lived and the channels are different in different parts of the country.
I am not sure how the experience of one girl is a reflection on an entire culture. Incest surely happens all over the world, but it is as much of a cultural imperative in Japan as it is in any first world westernized country = not at all.
