I forgot all about that! It was a Bush Senior moment.

This just seemed like a "Gung ho" movie moment.Even though this is all harmless and obviously a slow media day their is no real harm done.

I think the media is just having a knee jerk reaction to the other past Obama moments while doing similar things to other nations that America isn't really friendly with.

I found it amusing how they kept saying that it's a disgrace to the Americans who fought in the war against the Japanese. God forbid we all get on with the Germans, and with almost every race out there, right?
I bet we could insert a number countries and its people into this sentence besides America and England. They are born with?

Every country and its people have their prejudices against different country people. I can find Japanese with prejudices and arrogant superiority against another people. Aka Japanese and Koreans.
It goes all different ways.

Wars and bad blood between nations still exists and world wars were really not that long ago. Obama was just trying the JAapnese custom of greeting, whereas bowing means very different things in different context and cultures. It was, like you said, inappropriate but still no harm done. I just wonder where are Obama's advisers. I mean the president reading straight from a Japan travel guide?
