Japanese write in all kana for the first couple of months of 1st grade untill they start learning kanji and replacing the kana little by little. This may be a short period of time but it's the natural course of learning to write. Therefore, we don't even have to "tolerate" all kana. We're all used to seeing it.
Yet we never write all romaji for as long as we live. Romaji means writing Language A using the letters of Language B. It isn't cool. Sensible Japanese people won't tolerate it just as sensible English-speakers wouldn't tolerate it if I wrote English in all kana.

Well, that's good to know! I know romanji is pretty terrible and I can't stand it, and looks like this is a universal feeling. I was more wondering if pure kana wasn't seen to be just as bad as romanji, but I guess/hope not! Kanji is out of my league, I don't have the time and resources to learn it in a realistic time frame. I mean I can barely "read" hiragana at 1/4 speed of my normal reading, at most.
