Yeah exactly. I know way too many people with dogs who cannot take the dog's food away from them without them going all defensive and aggressive on them. It's important to teach the dog to have confidence in your judgment. That way you can almost do anything to it (within the range of what's acceptable according to animal rights etc., of course) and it will allow.
Rottweilers are definitely smart. They were bread with the idea of it being a smart dog, easy to train and with a clear expression of physical strength. It's a great dog, really, even though I prefer my own Newfs (and my future chow chow) at all times : P
