That is what usually gets me rather riled and obnoxious about this holiday.

If it was strictly a religious observance I would be fine with it. But it is 99.9% commercial crap. And there are millions of people who spend what they don't have, on people they don't care that much about (and often don't care about them), to give them things they don't need, all because of peer pressure and guilt. And to have this done in the name of someone's god is obscene to me.

My only concessions in the recent past were donations to charity in my nieces names ..... until they failed to appreciate the gesture.

I now give presents and donations when there is a need or inspiration and I can afford it. Not when someone else tells me "I should or must".


Only an open mind and open heart can be filled with life.
