the paying for plastic bags thing is just a scam (works along the same lines as the "airport security" scam)

you pay for the bags,
the shop makes a profit.
you think they care about the enviroment?
its wrong and its complete spank.

i was in a super market the other day,
charged me money for my plastic bag,
yet at the same time sells bunches of bananas in thick plastic bags.
and pumps tons of perfectly good food into landfill.

also that super market that "cares" will import food from miles away rather than use local grown, because they make more profit.

also hippies like to point out
"they dont degrade!, they will be there for 100s of years"
to which i respond
"yes, yes they will, and one day when weve used all the oil we can dig em up, and rescycle them, as there will be an economic drive to do so."
