Also, do most Japanese fonts have 10,000 characters in them? That does sound like more than I remember the number being, I always thought it was about 3,000 in standard fonts.

3,000. 10,000. The point was that it's not twenty-six letters plus a comma.
I do agree with you about the commercial use. However, supporting the free download of otherwise-costly fonts is just like linking people to pirated copies of textbooks (both are piracy). Someone got in trouble here for that a couple days ago.
I'm just warning people s'all.
