Agreed, it is somewhat challenging. I already know a good number of them (those common at Japanese restaurants in the USA), but others are new.
OTOH, I don't really have much of a choice. Learning them
after I return isn't going to help me when traveling. Plus, I'm unlikely to order it if I don't know what it is, so I won't ever get familiar with it.
