That is news to me. Everyone I know calls non-iPods, "mp3 players". Maybe it is just where I live, but there is such an Apple culture, it would feel odd to call a non-Apple mp3 player an "iPod", just as it would feel odd to call a non-Apple cell phone an "iPhone".
