No secret, just repetition, repetition, repetition. I would suggest learning the words in some sort of context (way they are used in a sentence) if you can. Once you start using them in conversation I think they will start to stick quite easily. You can cram and overload yourself with words.. which is OK in my opinion, but you cannot expect to remember them all. Particularly the ones you hardly use, if ever. Lastly I would suggest you create online or electronic flashcards that you can review quickly at anytime. Just keep at it everyday and keep speaking, reading etc.
There is no universal formula to easy memorization, it is just something you have to figure out on your own. Good luck.
