Nissan GT-R - 04-20-2010, 07:43 AM

Hi there

I would like to take the opportunity to praise this Japanese car.
I am not car specialist so for details you better see wikipedia website or producer's website for specs, or if you don't like reading see this video. All i know what made the car so popular all over the world is its advanced electronics and ability to provide wast amount of information to the driver. It greatest of powers are steering abilities. Clarkson in the video above even mentions gt-r has a special type of tires with enpowered attachment to the disks so they don't come off that easily in corners. I heard two rumors which are... that gt-r does not provide any corner lights function, cause there was no any enough powerful servo to turn the lights as fast as a car can change its direction. And one of the aims of a builder of gt-r was to create a car when even driving as fast as 300km/h you would still be sitting inside so comfortably without any noise disturbances and could calmly talk with others in the car .

Well, what i wanted to mention as the main demonstration of quality of this car, goes around this Top Gear series made by BBC TV. I was told this by my colleague who is much bigger fan to cars than me, so i just use his words .

The Top Gears are quite popular so I believe most of you do know them. Anyway they decided to make this competition of the GT cars from around the world. The list keeps today nearly 120 cars, you can find it here (on the right side). The cars were driven by a same driver (m. schumacher) on a same track to get the fastest possible time. Now, probably all of cars are common road drive capable, so not only for driving on a race track, but can be taken to the streets as well. Also these cars are made in series, and if you have enough money you could most likely get one (some exceptions like Enzo which is sold only to friends of company). Finally I have to mention that cars compete on a simple physics, and because in the competition they drive rather "technical" track (not just a straight line), so main factors are:
- weight of a car (more weight slows a car),
- the engine power (more power more acceleration and speed), and
- ability to take corners without loosing grip, no drifting etc..

And here is the point if we enlist fastest 20 cars on this track (nissan made it on 14th position) and compare it to the price of car, we can see one significant factor

Code:
P. Name Lap Time Price 1 Gumpert Apollo 1.17.1 €300 000 2 Ascari A10 1.17.3 €400 000 3 Koenigsegg CCX (TG spoiler) 1.17.6 €500 000 4 Pagani Zonda F Roadster 1.17.8 €500 000 5 Caterham R500 1.17.9 €45 000 6 Bugatti Veyron 1.18.3 €1 200 000 7 Pagani Zonda F 1.18.4 €500 000 8 Maserati MC12 1.18.9 €600 000 9 Ferrari Enzo 1.19.0 €500 000 10 Porsche 911 GT2 (997) 1.19.5 €120 000 11 Lamborghini LP560 1.19.5 €150 000 12 Porsche 911 GT2 1.19.5 €120 000 13 Ariel Atom 1.19.5 €60 000 14 Nissan GT-R 1.19.7 €90 000 15 Ferrari F430 Scuderia 1.19.7 €200 000 16 Porsche Carerra GT 1.19.8 €300 000 17 Lamborghini LP640 1.19.8 €200 000 18 Koenigsegg CCX 1.20.4 €500 000 19 Ascari KZ1 1.20.7 €300 000 20 Mercedes McLaren SLR1 1.20.9 €350 000
Check the prices of all cars which nissan had been competing to. The closest is probably porsche and lambo, but others are way more expensive. You cannot count in Ariel Atom and Catterham because these are like buggies weighting 500kg, they don't have roof, and do not have full featured body, wheels are made like on a formula.

As you can see Nissan GT-R is considerably low price and competes with those most expensive cars very well. And I am sure it makes it one of the best choices if you wanna buy a sport car. Also worth to mention that all other cars on that list are European and Nissan is the only non Europe car .

So I think this proves Nissan to be one of the greatest cars of this time and it does outbeats those expensive makes in many ways. If you want to provide I would be glad to hear from you your opinions and views on this car .

ps: €1 = cca 125 yen
