It is hard for me at times unless I'm become very comfortable with that person (I'm a quite the shy person). On the other hand, I'm glad I haven't confessed those feelings after seeing those girls for what they truly were.

There are times before I confess that the thought that this girl can do better than me does enter my thoughts, and that's another thing that holds me back. Most women like tall guys and I'm only 5'6, but that actually has never bothered me.
