Beautiful! Thanks for that. I remember when I was doing some research for my first trip to Japan, I came across a wooded area with...perhaps some sort of gnarly tree or a strange path...red poles/gates? I can't recall exactly, but I remember reading that it was one place that inspired Miyazaki. It may have been yakushima, but I thought the name may have started with an 'F'.
...If this extremely vague description strikes a chord with anyone, I'd love to hear what you've got on it. Thanks again for the suggestions!
