Well obviously I don't think it's possible as I don't believe in any sort of afterlife or spirits or souls. So I believe that everyone who claims to be able to do so are charalatans and are especially insidious as they are often preying on people who are bereaved and grieving. People in such states can be very easy to manipulate and extort large amounts of cash out of. On the other hand in many cases I'm sure people find some sort of comfort from believing they have been contacted by a loved one who has passed away. Especially if it helps to reinforce their own faith and allows them to believe that those who've passed have gone to a better place. There is without doubt some theraputic value in that. As much as I don't believe in the supernatural or paranormal I recognise that many do and many find comfort in it. I might wish for a more enlightened world of knowledge through science but I'm a realist, it's still a long time coming.
