I saw this sony TV 6-7 months before LG put theirs out. I think you guys are overreacting. Japan used to be the forerunner and sole innovator in asia. Now it is seeing some competition in that area and it just may appear that Japan is losing their touch. But I just think its because Japan is seeing some stiff competition closer to home.
You're right, Sony could've had a 3D LED TV way before LG and I may have never seen it before. Thinking about it, I saw a 3D TV (LCD, or PLASMA or LED) back in 2007 at Shenzhen Airport. So I guess the technology has been around, just not to the general public. This however, doesn't mean there hasn't been a change with Sony. For years, even if the technology has been around, they were always the first to release something to the general public (at least that's been my image of Sony for years).

I don't think we're over-reacting... We're making an observation. Things change and nothing lasts forever, so, for me at least, I'm not judging Japan, I'm just noticing the change/difference.
