Crazy, right? But, I did say that I used it, and I'm not saying I wasn't wrong either. In all honesty, though, I never thought much of it since I still bought whatever I read online anyway. I didn't even think of it as "illegal" until I actually started coming here a few years ago and I guess it's because I did buy most everything I read. Hm, maybe that's why I'm so apathetic over the site shutting down.
Either way, was just saying that's why I used it, and it was mostly for the former argument as opposed to the latter. I used it more so when I was anxious to know what was going to happen next in the story of whatever series I was reading while waiting for its US release. As for reading because of fund reasons, in some ways I couldn't bring myself to do it too much, like with Deathnote. It took me a while, but that's one series I never read scanlated. It just took me a while to collect the full series.
For the most part, seems I used scanlation places for unlicensed works, mostly, or, if I was just anxious to know what was going to happen while waiting for a US release (main series that come to mind are Negima and +Anima).
