ah well lets hope some idiot state doesn't want to try again--
ask soldiers and all those caught up in it what they thought? All those killed and injured fighting. Most were doing as ordered-- did they all want to be there? The japanese were told it was cowardly to be taken prisoner so seppuku was supposed to be their way to deal with it-- they despised the POWs for allowing themselves be captured. Took it out on them--
So many dying in order to capture a little bit more land or protect their own land.
It so easy in hindsight to say what should or should not have happened and pointless keeping on about it.
