If I post a book I bought new on eBay, 1000 people might see that ad. If one of them is interested by the title and goes to buy it new, that "lost sale" is just restored.

Hm, couldn't that kind of apply to manga too? Some people read titles online, and then later on, went out and bought them because the scanlation places introduced them to said series to look into. Guess you could say it's "free advertising" in a way.
