I run into her while I was walking home.

Klint is perfectly correct about I ran into her while walking home.

The "RAN Into" would be a phrasal verb-- as you would not literally run into her.

Here we tend to say " I" bumped" into my friend the other day when I was walking home". and of course that too would be phrasal verb because you would not literally bump into your friend-- Well I suppose you might, but it usually means, "I met my friend when I was out. It was a pleasant surprise to see her after all this time."
