JasonTakeshi, you must be a genius... My mother tongues are Berber and Arabic. I also speak English and French to a level where the majority of people that speak to me, say I am fluent! Spanish, and Portuguese are "Latin languages" and have also been influenced by Berber and Arabic (there are hundreds if not thousands of words in each language from Arabic).

So, I have the knowledge of basic Grammar from French. I have the vocabulary from Arabic, French, Berber and even English. With ALL of this, I can't hold a conversation (i.e. communicate)... I can understand a lot of words, a lot of sentences etc, but that is not the same thing as having a conversation.

I went to Spain a couple of months ago... I couldn't have a conversation to save my life... Not with Spanish or Catalan which is a lot closer to French.

If you really can communicate, have a conversation with ease, then you really are a genius, and I'm jealous! Because I'd love to add Spanish and Portuguese to my CV lol
