Running camps is part of my profession now, and my company gets international clients frequently, so I learn a lot from the kids sometimes and oftentimes I just adore their rich accents. I watch too much television, thats how I see American Accents. =)
BTW You're definitely a one off, in regards to singaporeans, they all seem to be very proud of their country. That grass is the greenest according to most of my Singaporean friends. =) You, seem to think otherwise.

Naaah, My accent has twangs of chinese in, apparently. But thats probably because my speech is super fast (Yeah, that is my speech impediment!)

I know what you mean by NYC accents, I have an obscene crush on Eddie Cahill (Det.Flack in CSI:NY) and I love the harsh Queens accent. It's so unique!
