I really dislike pets, because I know of the expense & care they require, & I'm not really an animal person. In answer to your question, I'd return it, but be very humble & polite. Say your deeply sorry for wasting this person's time, & you should've thought more of the consequences or downside to pet ownership. Be also, be honest
