She can also fight in the Japanese military without renouncing her British citizenship. It is not unheard of to hear of British nationals who fight for Canada, Australia and New Zealand and vice versa as they are also citizens of Canada Australia and New Zealand too. (That could of course just extend to countries that used to be in the Empire though.)
In the end it just depends on the laws of your country.

Yeah, those nations you named are part of the United Kingdom Commonwealth. We ended the empire but mostly all them united into the UK Commonwealth, we have something like 57 members. And we have just been having the Commonwealth Games which are sort of like an UKC only olympics. So now I guess the sun never sets on the British Commonwealth
