We don't seem to be communicating too well today.

We don't say it because it's not in our custom to casually say to someone, "Hey, I'm attending Bob's wedding this weekend. You wanna come along?"

But as far as GRAMMAR, that sentence is 100% correct.

Even though we won't actually say it as it isn't in our custom, the more natural way of saying it will be 「トムを結婚式に誘っといた。」
